Home Google Search Engine Optimization

To ensure that your website is optimized for Google is one of the most important things one can do for their website.

A majority of the internet searches are performed through Google. Google’s success is not only marked by the amount of searches but also because Google searches generate more sales per search. Studies have shown that of the total online purchase last year, Google accounted for 44.5% of all online sales; not due to their pay per click program rather from people using Google as a source to find products whereas as it’s competitor accounted to 17% of online sales.

Search engine optimization is key to increasing return on investments and has become an indispensable part of all online businesses through which one can generate countless numbers of customers with very low investment.

Attaining a high search engine ranking can generate interest in your website and the services and products it offers. A search engine like Google doesn’t require a lot of time and effort to achieve high search rankings.
However some aspects of search engine optimization do require not only time but also sound knowledge before one can really harvest the rewards search engines, especially Google, have to offer. There is really no shortcut for quality search engine optimization.

Search engine optimizing is performed on two different levels onsite and offsite.
Optimizing onsite requires limited effort and once performed properly only needs to be updated every now and then if Google does a major update.

There are essentials in both the front side (what people see) and backside (what search engines see) of a website. Some basics such as keyword phrases are at work both sides.

Keyword phrases: Is a significant part of any website. Choosing the right keyword is important but not over using it. Google uses the idea of less is more and over using will help lower your ranking or even get it banned.

Inserting the correct keyword phrase can make the difference between online success and failure. It is better to have 100 visitors that all will be interested in your website then have 10,000 visitors that have no interest at all.

However a fully optimized website alone will not help you get high search engine rankings. It is equally imperative to optimize offsite for the top spots.

Off Site Optimizing demands time spent working on the site an area most website's ignore. A key factor to a website's ranking is the amount of inbound natural anchor text links (natural anchor text links are anchor text links that are slightly different from each other, yet convey the same keyword phrase and are generated manually and not by software). Inbound only natural anchor text links authenticates that your website is an authority on a subject or item named in the anchor text link to Google.

Reciprocating links where there is a mutual link exchange between two websites. Some experts recommend them but they're almost useless with Google.

Similarily with "Link Farms", websites that do nothing more than list your website on them with no content; even though in theory they would be one way links, so they should help. However Google has a way to check if your website is listed with "Link Farms". Remember they "spyder" all links on your website both incoming and outgoing to check on how relevant your website is to the Internet community.

If they find your website listed on one of these "link farms" your website gets penalized and dropped from Google for what they consider spamming.

A site map is a favourite with Google. By making the site map a hierarchical representation, complete with H1 and H2 tags (and an OPML file of its own), you can let Google know the “parent/child” relationships from one page to the next.

Once each page’s content is laid out in a hierarchical manner it is also beneficial to ensure that your entire site is  laid out in a hierarchical manner. This will help Google to understand how one part of your site relates to other parts and result in high Google rankings.
